MACSC was founded in 1969 by a group of local parents as a drop-in center for kids and has grown to one of the premier multi-service family resource centers of the capital region. While still connected to its roots in youth programs, MACSC has evolved to meet the needs of the greater Mechanicville area. MACSC embraces empowerment based community programming which includes: domestic violence advocacy and educational outreach, family development programming, emergency assistance including food pantry, satellite services like WIC and Child Health Plus enrollment, free income tax preparation, and preschool with wrap around childcare for working parents.
All services are client driven and voluntary; unrestricted by residency and offered based on community demand. MACSC does not discriminate, and will provide all persons with equal opportunities regardless of national origin, color, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, religious preference, handicap, limited English proficiency, or any other entity protected by law.
MACSC continues to develop programming which is in line with its mission statement to “Improve the lives of area residents through family support, empowerment, recreation and education.“ Our goal is to promote healthy relationships between families and the community at large. MACSC is not only a community center, but a true center for the community.
